The production here is chef's kiss. Satisfaction. The transition elements. Sounds simple but there's actually a lot going on. Also 1:52 the way they fit in the lyrics of the chorus. "trickle down my spine, oh you look so-", "every single night-", "when your kisses climb, oh you give me-" "make me look so- (pretty), won't you help me out- (please)". GENIUS. And then 2:10 is sooo satisfying with the arrangement of all the instrumental elements. Dear god this is extremely underrated. I adore Dua's voice and the producers. Every single one who worked on this track.

Yes, absolutely fantastic arrangement & production. All that ear candy, so *tastefully* done, right on point without overdoing it. Do you know more pop songs that fit the same criteria or have similar sonic aesthetics?
@clarafrost3073 Жыл бұрын
@@linuslauterbach2975 Dress by Taylor Swift is similar in that it has a kinda sparse production but little details that really enhance the song. In the last chorus the music stops when Taylor sings "Everything just stops" and then comes back in, it's so satisfying. And it's a similar subject matter to Pretty Please. :) give it a listen!

Same honestly, this is my album of the year so far followed by Marilyn Manson, MGK, Trivium and Enter Shikari. My taste is all over the place lol

True story. I haven’t listened to pop in at least 15 years. Dua, Ariana, The Weeknd, Drake, Da Baby, and Khaled have been putting out some amazing music lately. My go-to is usually Punk Rock and 90s Hip Hop.

Just now finding this album but wow. This is my album of the year easily. Best pop album in many years, no question. Production is absolutely beautiful. Her voice & lyrics/cadence is also perfect. Checks all of the boxes for me!

Besides being a complete banger example of great pop songwriting, the production on this track is simply astounding. From the distorted voice samples, cowbell accents and Nile Rodgers-style guitar syncopation to the layered sheen and contrapunto vocals reminiscent of Noughties-era Gallic House, the taste level for this song is just impeccable. One of the best tracks of 2020!

Y’all she by far passed ANY artist in 2020. Like this is so underrated not the other junk that gets more attention 🙄
@lailaelgouille48433 жыл бұрын
I love dua as an artist . But I hate it still so much that new rules is only giving the most attention. Dua her other songs are really underrated as an rock if we compare the songs with new rules . Physical hotter than hell and more underrated bops of dua deserves so much better in my opinion than new rules. Litteraly dua did only became savage because of new rules and her other songs didn't get the succes that they deserved and that is really sad
