Honestly, something like the storyboard you've pitched would've fared better for the song. I think where this music video lost me was that too much symbolism and too many subtle themes were being piled in all at once e.g. the egg, the bulls/horses, invisibility etc. I think the whole premise of a clown rodeo definitely made sense because essentially the clown makeup transition represents how her falling in love again with someone who will yet again play and disappoint her makes her the clown. But this mv is a prime example of where doing too much can go wrong. For example, the analogy of the egg from what I could gather might've meant finding someone who is equally as "yoked" as you (I think someone in the comments further down mentioned this) but I'm ultimately left with more questions than answers about how that egg analogy continues to play out in the rest of the mv and it's end purpose. Furthermore and apologies for repeating myself, but the mv loses me with the damn invisible bulls/horses, why some are mechanic and others are real etc. Honestly, I could also be at fault of looking TOO much into the small details but when a general plot line is missing all I can do is try to find some meaning in the madness, which is what inevitably prompts me to hyper-analyse. In closing, the mv fails to tie up the loose strings it sows in the song's narrative and I think going with something much more simple with a strong and overarching plot would've served it better. I love Dua Lipa - LOVE her, don't get me wrong. But with the past music videos I've seen, especially Break my Heart which was a masterpiece, this just feels complacent.
